Instant Pot Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

And, if you enjoy a delicious, healthy breakfast, too, that’s even better! Today, we’re going to share a recipe that is a healthy, delicious way to start your day. We’re making Instant Pot Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal, and it only takes a few minutes to prepare. The result is a hearty bowl of oatmeal that tastes like apple pie—but without the added sugar and butter!

Anyone who has been in a relationship knows that it can be tough to break the fast when you’re not feeling well. Imagine how hard it is when you’re sick and all you want is to be tucked away in bed. That’s the situation I was in this past Monday. I was suffering from a cold so I decided to stay home. I was craving hot soup and settled on making this Instant Pot Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal.

Oats are the ultimate comfort food, and when it’s combined with a good old-fashioned pot of apple butter, they become the ultimate comfort food for breakfast! But have you ever made a pot of oats in your Instant Pot? I’ve never even thought about doing that! I was so excited to try this recipe since I love apples and cinnamon, and I was hoping to make a healthy and delicious breakfast.

Our delectable Instant Pot Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal combines sweet fresh apples, fragrant cinnamon, and a splash of syrup with steel cut oats. This is one of our favorites since it’s perfect for a family gathering, breakfast, or meal prep for the week. Isn’t it true that you don’t need that much? Simply halve the recipe while maintaining the same cooking times. Our healthy oatmeal is winning in our home this morning since it’s simple and tasty! ⁠


I had a lot of relatives stay with us during the holidays. I adore it, but I don’t always like coming up with quick and easy dishes to serve the group. This dish is one of my favorites since it serves a crowd, is quick to prepare, and is much more nutritionally balanced than cinnamon buns or breakfast burritos. Don’t get me wrong: such decisions may be costly. However, it’s difficult to match the convenience of being able to throw everything into an Instant Pot (which I usually have on hand) and pressing a few buttons!

Can I use rolled oats instead of steel cut?

You are unable to do so in this recipe. Unfortunately, since rolled oats cook so much quicker than steel cut, this recipe would be significantly altered.

What makes steel cut oats different from rolled oats?

Oats that have been sliced into 2 to 3 smaller pieces with a steel blade are known as steel cut oats. They are also coarser and chewier than other varieties of oats. They have a filling feel with a substantial texture. Rolled oats, often known as “old-fashioned” rolled oats, need shorter cooking time than steel cut oats. These oats are different because they have been flattened and steamed instead of being chopped with a sharp blade.


Instant Pot Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Ingredients:

  • 3 diced apples
  • 3 cups steel-cut oats (organic)
  • 7.5 gallon water
  • vanilla extract (two tablespoons)
  • 3 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 2 tsp. salt (kosher)
  • Organic Syrup (1/2 cup)

How to Make Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal in an Instant Pot:

The apples must first be diced. You’ll want to slice them thinly and then chop them into tiny bite-size pieces.

Then, in the pressure cooker, combine the apples, steel cut oats, water, vanilla, cinnamon, salt, and syrup. Close the cover tightly. Set the pressure release to the “Sealing” position.


Press the ‘steam’ button and set the timer for 4 minutes after the lid is locked. The pot must come to pressure for 8-10 minutes before it can begin cooking. * Make sure the top lever is set to ‘Seal’!

Allow the oats to spontaneously release for 10 minutes after the timer sounds. Because the IP won’t sound again after 10 minutes, set a timer.

After 10 minutes of natural release, use a long spoon or utensil to vent any leftover steam by turning the lever on top to ‘venting.’ Because a lot of steam will come out violently, you want to keep a safe space between your body and the Instant Pot. It’s easy to be hurt if you don’t take measures like making sure no one is near the vent when you release steam.


Last but not least, open the lid and stir! As you can see in the photo above, it’s still quite wet. Because the grains have settled towards the bottom, this is the case. That’s how it’s supposed to seem! Stir for 2-3 minutes with a large spoon, and it will be creamy and wonderful!

Serve immediately. Feel free to use your imagination when it comes to toppings. Anything goes: extra syrup, nuts, berries, chocolate chips, granola, etc. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 5 days in an airtight container.


I didn’t acquire a taste for oats till later in life. Oatmeal has been a morning staple as I’ve attempted to eat a more balanced diet and feed my body. My spouse has taken a similar stance. This recipe enables me to “cook” once and have many morning meals. My kids like it, so it’s also a good idea to put this in a bowl for the kids on a hectic school-day morning, warm, and serve. They like it, and I appreciate how simple it is.

  • 3 diced apples
  • Millville Steel Cut Oats, 3 CUP
  • 8 quarts liquid
  • vanilla extract (two tablespoons)
  • 3 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 2 tsp. salt (kosher)
  • Organic Syrup (1/2 cup)


  1. Apples should be diced into thin slices.
  2. Stir together all of the ingredients in the Instant Pot.
  3. Cover with a lid. Set the timer for 4 minutes and press “steam.”
  4. Make sure the top lever is set to “seal.”
  5. Allow 10 minutes after the timer sounds for natural release.
  6. Release any residual pressure, remove the lid, and thoroughly mix before serving!
