Keto Success Story: How Nora Embraced Keto & Made it a Family Affair

Nora is a busy mom of three, and she’s trying different ways to eat to keep up with her busy life. When she began Keto in October 2017, she found that it helped her to feel more energetic, her mood improved, and she felt better. Within a month she’d lost 5 lbs and 6.5 inches, and she didn’t give up on it. Now, at the end of the year, she’s down 15 lbs and back to her pre-pregnancy weight.

Keto is a very popular keto diet that is being widely used by people all over the world. Let’s see how Nora is using keto diet and how it helped her to lose weight & make a family affair.

Nora from Texas is a busy mom of two. She’s a nurse and a blogger, and she depends on the keto diet to help her live a healthy lifestyle. When her daughter was just two months old, Nora was struggling with her weight. She felt unhealthy, her clothes did not fit, and she was constantly hungry. So, when Nora decided to make the switch to keto, she was determined to stick with it for the long-run. And, she was able to do so because her family went along with her. She knew that by changing her lifestyle, she was able to lead a healthier life—and she wanted her children to have that opportunity, too.

The ketogenic diet is a game changer!

We are delighted to share the tale of one of Nora’s pendants with you. She’s been on the keto diet for a little more than a year and has already dropped 75 pounds. WOOOO!

She has not only completely embraced the keto lifestyle, but she has also encouraged her sister to do so. They support one another, and we believe you will be inspired by their tale.

What drew you to keto in the first place?

I learned about keto cooking from a lady I knew who had dropped a lot of weight and had made significant progress. I began my own study and determined that the 5th would be the best day to go. Keto will begin in March 2019.

My employer and I agreed to give up something for Lent (yes, we are both ardent Catholics! ), so I stopped eating refined carbohydrates and began following the keto diet. The more I studied and watched physicians and other proponents of the low-carb diet on YouTube, the more determined I grew to stay with it.

My sister, much more than I, has battled with her weight her whole life. She adhered to a fairly rigorous diet and had great results. Despite her weight loss, she remained dissatisfied with her food, was never pleased, and was frustrated at having to cook more and more meals for her family that she couldn’t eat. Then she began to stray from the plan, and I was worried she’d revert to her previous eating habits. So I told her about the delectable keto meals I’d been eating and how they’d made me feel full and helped me lose weight.

I attempted to convince him that nothing would work until we changed our connection with food and did something long-term. When she came to visit me for a long weekend in late July 2019, she finally agreed to give it a try. We prepared wonderful keto meals and I explained how keto works to her.

We both began the conventional diet in September 2018 and have only dropped 10 pounds since then, with my sister losing 50 pounds in March 2019. As a result of my competition with my sister, I decided to become wise and start the diet. But, as a group, we’ve learned that this isn’t a competition. We were each other’s foundation and support system.

Despite the fact that she still has a long way to go, I told her, “I want you to accomplish what I have done, to stand alongside me in the same position as me; it’s not a race, it’s a trip.” She has previously been overshadowed by me, but all I want is for her to let go of her insecurities and accept herself for who she is, inside and out.

We have improved our self-esteem and our relationship as a result of losing weight.

Do you keep track of your macros, calories, and other stats?

I monitor all of my macros and limit myself to 20 net carbohydrates each day. I don’t worry about eating too much protein or fat since it makes it easier for me to lose weight.

I follow a rigorous ketogenic diet and cook often. It’s simple for me since I live alone and just cook for myself. I don’t have to worry about the kids or what they’ll eat. With the exception of a few keto bars that I sometimes consume when I’m on the road and don’t have time to stop, I try to avoid manufactured meals.

Do you use intermittent fasting as part of your daily routine?

Every other day, I follow a 16:8 intermittent fast. I can fast for up to 18 hours at a time, and my longest fast was 20 hours.

What motivates you to remain on track?

The outcomes are what motivates me to remain on track! I am an enthusiastic chef who enjoys experimenting with new dishes and learning new culinary methods. I like figuring out how to make dishes keto-friendly.

What advise would you offer to someone who is just starting out on a keto diet or is having trouble sticking to it?

The greatest advise I can offer to people just starting out is to be motivated by all the wonderful things you can now consume (bacon, cheese, steak, sauces) that used to restrict you.

Get rid of your fat fear and calorie tracking and start losing weight with fat! Isn’t it an eye-opener? We may make an old foe our new buddy if we accept him!

You don’t need a low carb diet to lose weight if you’re not eating carbs. You just need to eat fewer calories than your body needs to function. The average person burns between 2000 and 2500 calories per day. If you need 1500 calories per day to maintain your weight, eating no carbs will make it so your body will burn 1000 calories per day.
