With 2025 fast approaching, now is a better time than ever to set out a few resolutions that will lead to a happier and healthier year. Here are a few resolutions that will make you feel your best for the upcoming new year.

Cut Back on Bad Habits

The first thing you should do is to start cutting back, or even cutting out any bad habits you may have. Whether that be smoking or alcohol, it is never too late to cut out a habit that isn’t helping your health.

Using services like Quit Clinics to stop smoking or form a group with your friends with the goal of not drinking will see you experience drastic improvements in your overall health.

Move More

The next thing you should aim for is to move more and to be more active. In this day and age, far too many people spend a lot of time sitting at a desk or on their couch, and don’t get enough physical movement throughout the day.

Not only does moving improve your cardiovascular system and heart, but it is also good for your joints and muscles. You can also do it however you choose, whether it be walking to work, an afternoon stroll, or a quick jog in the early morning.

Exercise Regularly

Beyond moving more, you should also start exercising regularly. Exercise is one of the most important factors to feeling good and leading a healthy lifestyle, and it improves everything from your heart and lung health, to your physical strength and mental health.

You can opt to do home workouts, or join a gym. For the latter, it is a good idea to book a few personal trainer sessions, as this will give you the best workout plan for your capabilities and goals.

If neither of those options is appealing, running is a brilliant, near-free activity you can do almost anywhere. Additionally, most major cities have running clubs that will give you the opportunity to improve and meet other people on the same journey.

Find a Physical Hobby

If the gym isn’t for you, or you are looking for a different way to get exercise, you should maybe look into finding a physical hobby. This can be anything from playing tennis, to rock climbing, or hiking.

Choosing this route also allows you to tick a couple of more boxes, as being outdoors is great for both your physical and mental health, and you are also then able to meet like-minded people and make a few new friends along the way.

Get Better Sleep

Another goal should be to get better, higher-quality sleep. A lack of good sleep can make you feel lazy, less physically capable, and mentally lethargic, which can affect your memory and cognitive ability.

Therefore, it is best to create an effective sleep schedule that will not only have you feeling refreshed and ready for the day in the morning but also ensure that bad sleep quickly becomes a thing of the past.

Cut Back on Processed Foods

Being healthy is not just about exercising but also about having a healthy diet. While there is no need to immediately go on a strict diet, the best place to start is by cutting out processed foods.

This means spending more time in the grocery store picking up fresh ingredients and less time ordering takeaway. If you are very busy or short on time, you can easily spend an hour or two on the weekends doing meal-prepping to ensure you always have a healthy meal available.

Spend Time Outdoors

Another small thing you can do to improve your mental and physical health is to spend more time in the great outdoors. The sunlight gives your body vitamin D, which is great for bone health and immune support.

Many studies have also shown that spending more time outdoors can help lower stress, and anxiety, and even help with a depression. Because of this, spending at least thirty minutes outside a day is a must.

Deal with Stress Better

For your mental health, one of the first and most important steps is to deal with stress and anxiety in better and more effective ways. Stress can affect your diet, sleep, and overall mental and physical ability and can lead to your new year goals being derailed.

You can go about this in different ways, whether it be journaling, meditation, yoga, or breathing exercises. Whichever option you choose, the only thing it needs to do is allow you to deal with your stress and anxiety in a healthy and productive manner.

Practice More Self-Care

Finally, it is never a bad thing to pick up a few self-care habits. Once again, this can mean something different to different people, but in simple terms, a self-care habit should be something that helps you feel physically or mentally relaxed.

Something as simple as taking a bath can be exactly what you need, while someone else may need a massage twice a month. Whatever it is you choose, all it needs to do is help you relax, unwind, and disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the world around you.
