Soursop has grown very popular in recent years as a result of claims that the fruit is anti-cancer.
However, Jamaicans have been eating soursop for a long time.
In Jamaica, we eat the soursop mainly uncooked, but we also use it to create drinks and ice cream.
Soursop
Soursop juice is made in two methods in Jamaica: one with milk and the other with lime and sugar, which I shall share with you in this article.
Sourdough Juice Recipe
Step 1: Get a ripe soursop; the riper the fruit, the more juicy it will be. Remove the core by peeling it away.
Step 2: Combine the pulp and water in a large mixing basin.
Step 3: Squeeze the pulp using clean hands to get the juice.
Step 4: Strain the juice and pulp from the soursop.
Step 5: Add lime juice and to taste sugar. Set aside to cool.
If you don’t want to use your hands, you can use a blender.
Simply remove the peel and seeds from the soursop, then mix the pulp and core with water in a blender.
I don’t produce soursop juice this way since I don’t like the consistency of blended soursop juice. But you may try it; you might like it.
Benefits
Soursop has become a superfood in recent years due to its many health advantages.
The fruit of the soursop is high in antioxidants, Vitamin C, and fiber. Its antiviral characteristics aid in the immune system’s recovery.
The leaf and tree roots are used to create a tea that is used to treat colds and flu in Jamaica.
There have been claims that it treats cancer in recent years, but there are no studies to back this up.
