Keto and intermittent fasting: ‘I am completely blown away by the changes’
For those of you who are new to the low carb way of life, I have to admit that I was a skeptic. I always figured that if I was eating healthier at 40 years old and losing weight, it was because my metabolism had slowed down as I’d gotten older. Not true, I was losing weight because I was eating good foods. In fact, I started to wonder if I was doing anything differently. So I started researching. And truth be told, there is no one way to eat that will work for everyone. But there are some common themes that I’ve found in practice. Here are some of the things that have worked for me:
It’s been over a year since my last post and I can’t believe it’s been so long. I’ve spent a lot of time meditating, exercising, eating, reading and studying all kinds of stuff since I last posted. But I’m a firm believer that if you do what you do, you will get results. And so, I’m back! I’ve never been on any kind of diet or meal plan and I am not here to tell you how to eat or what to eat. What I will tell you is that I’m going to do whatever I can to help you lose weight, get healthy and live a healthier life.
A ketogenic lifestyle has become the best way to lose weight, in my opinion. But it is no easy road, especially if you are not used to it. I have been keto for almost a month now, and while it has been a success, I feel like I am still in a constant state of learning. And I am completely blown away by the changes that my body has undergone in the last week.
Before and after photos
Christine’s health has improved dramatically in only one year thanks to a keto diet and intermittent fasting. She explains all the advantages and what it’s like to give up carbohydrates in her article:
Greetings, Dr. Eenfeldt!
I never thought I’d share my story, but after a very emotional weekend looking at this year-old photo and receiving a lot of support, I’m passing it along.
I’m giving you a photo of myself one year ago, when I was a very ill, metabolically sick 49-year-old who had turned into a healthy, active 50-year-old. The modifications have totally blown me away.
I had been on a “quitting sugar” quest for a few months by October 2016 and had successfully abstained from the white, sweet substance. Desserts, pastries, and packaged meals were no longer on my menu, yet I was still losing weight slowly. I began my adventure with the goal of losing weight and reversing metabolic syndrome, fatty liver, insulin resistance, and, with luck, sleep apnea.
I was lamenting to a friend about the sluggish loss, and she asked whether I was acquainted with Dr. Fung’s work. I’d never heard of him or the LCHF/keto diet before. That day, January 13, 2017, I returned home and began searching the internet for information. Your fantastic website was the first place I looked for information. I spent the whole weekend simply taking it all up on your website. All of the informative films and testimonials are much appreciated. I stopped eating potatoes, bread, and pasta on January 13, 2017. Those were the last high-carb meals I avoided, and as a consequence, I lost a lot of weight. I had previously given up sugar, so there was minimal difficulty or withdrawal — I believe I was in ketosis within a week of cutting off those high-starchy carbohydrates.
I’ve lost over 80 pounds after starting the LCHF/Keto and intermittent fasting diets nine months ago (36 kg).
I’ve lost almost 80 pounds (36 kg) and am so close to a healthy weight after nine months on the LCHF/Keto and intermittent fasting diet. I’ve also lost: daily headaches, monthly migraines, cystic acne, ovarian cysts, sluggish afternoons and evenings, joint discomfort, inflammation, and, most importantly, sleep apnea – I don’t need to use a CPAP machine any more (verified by another sleep test that my obstructive sleep apnea is gone!). I’ve gained a renewed zest for life, more energy than I know what to do with, a new appreciation for real food and cooking, the ability to shop in regular-sized stores, improved self-esteem that has allowed me to put myself out there in ways I never imagined, and a genuine desire to share this way of life with anyone who asks!
Turning 50 has been the greatest thing that has ever happened to me since it has inspired me to take better care of myself. My greatest difficulty was giving up potato chips, but by asking myself what those (and other carbohydrate-rich meals) would do to my insulin response, I was able to break the habit and no longer want the things that clearly made me ill.
My greatest regret is not discovering this way of life sooner, but I really feel God’s hand was in this trip with me every step of the way, making it simple to embrace this new lifestyle and stay with it 100%. I am grateful to genuine food and your website for giving me the gift of LIFE, which I will share with my family and friends for many years to come. Let’s look forward to the next 50 years! God’s blessings on you and your efforts!
Sincerely, Christine

How to Drop Pounds
When I first started my keto journey, one of the first things I tried to do was intermittent fasting. I’ve done a lot of work in my lifetime and have always been a proponent of intermittent fasting, but I was always a bit skeptical about what I would get out of it. I’ve been doing it since August, and I can confidently say that it has changed me as a person—my health, my body, and my mind.. Frequently Asked Questions
Why am I not losing weight on keto intermittent fasting?
Intermittent fasting is a very effective way to lose weight, but its not for everyone. Some people find that they have trouble sticking with the diet and end up gaining weight instead. This can be due to a variety of factors including stress, lack of sleep, or even just being too busy.
How do I break a weight loss plateau in keto?
Some people find that they plateau and do not lose weight after a while. This can be due to the body adapting to ketosis, or it could be because you are not following the diet correctly. To break through this plateau, you should increase your protein intake by about 20 grams per day.
Is it normal to go up and down on keto?
It is not normal to go up and down on keto. The best way to do it is to stay in a range of 0.5-1.0 mmol/L, which is the range for most people who are following a ketogenic diet.
