As a surfer dad with a passion for riding the waves, there’s nothing quite like sharing the stoke of surfing with my family. Surfing is a lifestyle that we enjoy together and one that has brought us closer than ever before.

From catching our first waves together at our local break to exploring new spots, we’ve had some incredible surfing adventures as a family. Below are a few of our most memorable experiences:

  • Surfing in Hawaii: Last summer, we took a family trip to Hawaii and scored some epic waves. The water was crystal clear, the sun was shining, and the waves were pumping. It was a dream come true for all of us.
  • Surfing in Mexico: We also love to travel to Mexico, where we’ve surfed some of the best waves of our lives. The people are friendly, the food is amazing, and the surf is world-class. Plus, the photos we took here were absolutely incredible!
  • Surfing with Marine Life: Surfing has given us the opportunity to witness the amazing marine life up close. We’ve seen dolphins, sea turtles, and even humpback whales while out in the water. It’s a humbling experience that reminds us of the beauty of nature.

Overall, surfing with my family has been one of the greatest joys of my life. It’s a sport that we can all enjoy together and creates memories that will last a lifetime. I look forward to many more surfing adventures with my kids and wife, and I can’t wait to capture more sensational surfing photos to share on my surfer dad’s surf blog.

As a surfer dad who runs a surf blog with sensational surfing photos, I’ve had the privilege of capturing some truly epic surf shots. I’ve been asked many times about my tips and tricks for taking the perfect shot, so I thought it would be helpful to share them here.

First and foremost, it’s essential to have the right equipment. A high-quality camera with a fast shutter speed is a must for capturing all the action in detail. I recommend opting for a camera that has a fast continuous shooting mode or bursts mode feature, so you can capture multiple shots in quick succession.

Another crucial element is lighting. Generally, the best time to capture epic surf shots is during the golden hour, which is the first hour after sunrise or the last hour before sunset. During this time, the light is soft and warm, creating a beautiful contrast and depth in your photos. However, it’s not always possible to shoot at this time, so it’s important to understand the light available and how to use it to your advantage.

Composition is also essential. To create a dynamic photo, it’s critical to position yourself correctly and know where the surfer is going to be on the wave. Depending on the break and the wave, you may need to capture the surfer from the front, back, or side, and positioning yourself in the right place at the right time is key.
