The Essential Chocolate Daiquiri –
A classic Cuban classic! This is a real chocolate cocktail with real rum, not just rum flavoring. This is the real stuff. Daiquiris, at their most basic, are a sugar-rich drink with a strong rum twist. A daiquiri is often served over ice, though some drinks are served over the rocks in a rocks glass. This is a great recipe for spring.
I was reading a book about drinking chocolate and everything I read about this recipe sounded right up my alley. I decided to try it myself and not only does it taste amazing, but I figured out a way to turn it into a much healthier drink! My new chocolate daiquiri is a much healthier drink that promises to taste just as good as a much larger drink.
I love a good cocktail, but sometimes, I just want a simple chocolate daiquiri. With just a few ingredients and a few days to get it just right, this is a popular drink that can be tailored to your taste. Using simple syrup, milk, and a rich dark chocolate, the proportions for this drink are small, but the outcome is a decadent, thick chocolate daiquiri.
This chocolate daiquiri recipe was created in collaboration with Bouchard Chocolate. It’s opulent and decadent.
I’m all set for some Christmas entertaining!
I tried half-and-half, low-fat milk, evaporated milk, and heavy cream in different combinations.
Despite my best efforts to save calories, I preferred the heavy cream version. But the half-and-half and evaporated milk versions were equally delicious!
If you’re going to consume chocolate in a liquid form, I think you may as well go all out. This is not the place to lose weight.
I also made a comparison between vodka and rum. Rum gets my vote!
So, let’s get down to business with the chocolate.
Since 1931, #BouchardChocolate has been in operation.
Their dark chocolate Napolitains were the chocolate I tried. Individually wrapped pieces of chocolate bliss with a 72 percent cacao content. The chocolate has a deep flavor without the harsh aftertaste that you may get in other dark chocolates. This is due to Bouchard Chocolate’s utilization of high-quality ingredients.
How do you feel about dark chocolate?
Dark chocolate, in my opinion, is a chocolate for adults. My initial idea was to make a cocktail, but this chocolate was also used in Chocolate-Orange Scones. What a delight! That recipe will be posted shortly! (Sign up for our email to make sure you don’t miss out on any new recipes!)
Bouchard Chocolate is located in the Belgian city of Ghent. When Jeff and I were in Germany in 2014, we were able to take Jackie on a tour to Belgium. We stuffed ourselves with chocolate, beer, and waffles.
This is an incredible, beautiful location. You should definitely go! We should definitely go!
Can’t afford a spontaneous vacation to Belgium?
Bouchard Chocolate is available in Costco, so don’t worry!

- rum (1 1/2 oz.)
Instructions
- Warm the cream in a medium saucepan.

Notes
Make sure the chocolate mixture is well whisked. You may see hardened chocolate bits after cooling. Just in case, I suggest straining this drink using a fine strainer.

Chocolate Daiquiri is one of those techniques that can be accomplished with only a few basic ingredients. It’s so simple you can’t help but wonder why you haven’t heard of it before. But, if you’ve ever made a Diplomatico Fino sipper, you know exactly what I’m talking about. This recipe combines the mellow flavors of rum, aged rum, and dark chocolate. What’s even better, you can make two drinks from one recipe.. Read more about fudgesicle daiquiri recipe and let us know what you think.
