Is jerk chicken a hot dish?
I believe it varies depending on who you ask! It has a sweet hot taste to it, but it does have some spiciness to it, in my opinion. The heat isn’t oppressive. This meal is a hit with our kids! If you don’t like spice in your meal, just remove out the red pepper flakes and replace them with a bit extra brown sugar and pineapple juice. To keep the youngsters from becoming too hot, we serve it with a side of fresh pineapple chunks.
What is the flavor of jerk chicken?
Jerk seasoning is a popular culinary technique in Jamaica. It imparts a smoky, spicy taste to the meat, which is typically chicken or pork. Jerk cooking is traditionally done over an open flame. We decided to give a traditional taste a new spin for this dish.
With Pineapple Jerk Chicken, what should I serve?
Over a scoop of rice is our favorite way to enjoy this meal! For more flavor, add a splash of pineapple juice to the cooked rice. It’s also delicious served over spaghetti or a bed of shredded cabbage.
