Classic Meatloaf |
I can safely say I’ve eaten a lot of classic meatloaf since I was a kid. It was definitely a staple of my childhood and I can remember my mom always making a fresh batch every Sunday night. I remember how much my mom enjoyed cooking and baking, and was always trying different recipes to make her family a little happier.
One of the most popular dishes in the world. Classic Meatloaf combines tender pieces of beef with a combination of garlic, spices and herbs.
Perfect for game nights or family dinners, this classic has the perfect blend of flavors. This recipe is inspired by my grandmother’s Meatloaf recipe and she always made it on Sundays using a whole pound of ground beef. I have changed that up a bit and made it more of a meal with potatoes and a green vegetable. It was delicious! I fell in love with the idea of this recipe and made it in more than one form for my family and friends. They all agreed that the original recipe was the best of all!. Pan (freeform or loaf)
Because it’s simpler to take the meatloaf from the pan and slice, I like to create a freeform meatloaf. I can also keep an eye on the meatloaf’s progress. Another benefit of a freeform meatloaf is that you’ll get more of that wonderful ketchup glaze! If you’re going to bake your meatloaf in a loaf pan, be sure to line it with parchment paper for easy removal and use leaner ground beef so it doesn’t cook in oil.
What kind of ground beef should I use?
You should use lean ground beef in any meatloaf recipe. In my cuisine, I like to utilize 93 percent lean or leaner cuts of meat. While using less lean ground beef improves the flavor, it results in a greasy and unappealing meatloaf. It will be more difficult for the meatloaf to keep its form and integrity if you use less lean ground beef.
Is it OK to eat pink meatloaf?
To be considered safe to eat, meatloaf must be cooked until it reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s still safe to eat if the interior is still pink. Due to the spices used and other chemical reactions that occur while cooking, classic meatloaf may maintain a pink hue. If it doesn’t achieve the required internal temperature, you’ll have to keep cooking!
