This southern classic has been around since at least the 1940s, but the last time I ever made it was about 15 years ago. I wanted to rekindle my love of pimento cheese, and the recipe I used at that time was from the thrift store. It was quite different from the one I was about to try, but when I tasted it, I was surprised at how delicious it was. Now, I want to share my current pimento cheese recipe with everyone!

For good reason, pimento cheese is a southern favorite. It’s a simple recipe with a lot of flavor. You won’t be sorry if you serve this Pimento Cheese Dip (Classic) at your next gathering!

Shredded cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, cream cheese, peppers, spices, and spicy sauce are used to make pimento cheese. It’s a quick-to-prepare dip that goes well with crackers, biscuits, or even a sandwich.

When I first visited South Carolina, I tasted pimento cheese dip for the first time. It was served on a biscuit from Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit in Charleston, South Carolina, and it was perhaps the finest biscuit I’d ever eaten. If you come, don’t forget to sample the morning sandwich!

What exactly is pimento?

Because of their tiny size and brilliant red color, pimentos are also known as cherry peppers. Pimentos are a mild pepper with a sweeter flavor than bell peppers. This pepper is also seen in filled green olives, which are typically packed with pimentos.

Pimento peppers are typically found alongside the pickles and olives in the jarred food area. Pimento peppers may be found at most supermarket shops. The majority of jarred types come chopped or in strips, which you will need to cut for this dish.

The most common uses for pimento cheese are as a dip or a sandwich spread. There are, however, various variations of this distribution. Pimento dip may be served spicy or used to fill jalapenos. Storage Suggestions

Refrigerate for up to 2 days in an airtight container. After they’ve been at room temperature for a while, toss any leftovers. The dish may be prepared ahead of time and kept in the refrigerator.

Keep the dip cool and away of direct sunshine or hot places while serving. Because this is a mayonnaise-based meal, if left out too long, it will go rancid and induce illness. Remove any leftovers from the dip if it has been sitting out at room temperature.
