Creamy Vodka Hot Chocolate — Grey Goose and Baileys

As the weather starts to cool down, it’s time to hit the slopes, or the beach, or both. But, what’s the best way to keep warm in the winter months (besides over-dressing)? You could bathe in bacon fat, but that’s not exactly conducive to a civilized holiday meal. Instead, we recommend a warm, comforting cocktail of your choice, and to chase it down with a shot of good vodka.

Vodka is not just for a shot after a late-night study session, it also makes for a great hot chocolate drink, and Grey Goose is actually quite well-known for its signature jazzy flavors. (In fact, they are even a sponsor of the Miami Vice TV show, which was popular in the 1980s.) However, when we decided to create a hot chocolate recipe for our Christmas cocktails section, we were at a loss for a strong hot chocolate flavor.

You’ll need a hot chocolate recipe, a recipe for Baileys, and a couple of bottles of Grey Goose Vodka. There’s no need to mince words when you’re trying to get the girls to eat the right things—they know exactly what’s up and will be up for a hot chocolate and some chocolate-covered Baileys.

Nothing says “warm and comfortable” like a steaming cup of hot chocolate. This Creamy Vodka Hot Chocolate, prepared from scratch, is just what this cold December calls for. For the ideal hot chocolate this wintery season, combine a few ingredients in a pot, bring to a simmer, then add a dash of vodka and Bailey’s.

Sometimes all you need is a warm, comforting drink that also enables you to let go and be distressed. THIS is the beverage in question. I’ve always been a person who enjoys a glass of Bailey’s on the rocks, but when it’s freezing outdoors, I need something to keep my hands and body warm. This hot chocolate is decadently thick and creamy, and the addition of Irish cream elevates it to new heights. Marshmallows, whipped cream, and hot caramel or chocolate sauce may be added on the top.

What kind of alcoholic beverages go well with chocolate?

We have a plethora of chocolate-related options at our disposal. I thought vodka and Baileys to be wonderful with the warm, creamy texture that this cocktail is made out of. You could always replace the Baileys with Kahula and use whiskey or rum instead of vodka. There are a plethora of choices that go nicely with a chocolate beverage.

Is it possible to make substitutions for any of the ingredients?

It doesn’t always work out to have all of the components on hand! Whole milk makes a big difference in this recipe! Instead of going down to 1 percent or skim milk, I’d increase up in fat with half & half or heavy whipping cream. You want it to be creamy and rich. Milk chocolate alternatives are excellent if you don’t like dark chocolate.

The following are the ingredients for our Creamy Vodka Hot Chocolate:

To create our Creamy Vodka Hot Chocolate, follow these steps:

Add the sugar and chocolate chips to a medium-sauced saucepan over medium heat. To mix, stir everything together. As the chocolate chips melt, stir constantly. After that, add the cocoa powder and mix well to blend.

Then, one cup at a time, add the milk, stirring and mixing as you go. Warm slowly over medium heat, but do not let to boil. You don’t want the drink to scorch or burn.

When ready to serve, pour 8 ounces of hot chocolate into a cup, then add 1.5 ounces of Baileys and 1.5 ounces of vodka. Lightly whisk the ingredients together.

Top with whipped cream, chocolate drizzle, and caramel drizzle.

I’ve experimented with a couple different versions of this drink. For a less sweet, heavier flavor, use Kahlua; for a little sweeter, thinner consistency, use Rumchata. Both options are delectable! It will ultimately come down to personal taste. Because I find Bailey’s to be a good compromise between the two, that’s what I usually go for. Do you want anything to eat while you sip? Time to cook: 10 minutes

10 minutes in total

Ingredients

  • Dark Chocolate Chips (1/2 cup)
  • a quarter cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder (dark chocolate)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 4 quarts of whole milk
  •
  • Alcohol:
  • Once the hot chocolate is in the cup, add 1.5 ounces of both vodka and baileys.

Instructions

  1. Combine the chocolate chips and sugar in a sauce pan over medium heat. Stir everything together until it’s completely melted.
  2. Toss in the cocoa powder with the melted chocolate and mix well.
  3. 1 cup at a time, slowly pour in the milk.
  4. Break up the chocolate as you whisk since it will clump together until the whole liquid is heated.
  5. Pour 8 ounces of milk into a cup after all of the milk has been mixed.
  6. 1.5 ounces vodka and 1.5 ounces Baileys (Take one of each.)
  7. Top with whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate and caramel.

Notes

Instead, use 2 cups whole milk and 2 cups heavy whipping cream for a creamier, somewhat thicker beverage.

Bring the milk to a boil, but don’t let it boil! You’ll risk scorching it, and it’ll be unpleasant to eat!

Anyone who has ever lived abroad for a year or more has probably had hot chocolate with a shot of Baileys in it at some point. I remember getting the two for a pound in the UK at the end of my trip in 1993, having had to buy it at a store that sold only alcohol, and being very happy with it. I can’t imagine I am alone in this.. Read more about best whipped cream vodka and let us know what you think.
