Crockpot Italian Beef Sandwiches
Summer is upon us, and that means everyone is looking for the easiest and most delicious summer recipes. A crockpot is the best way to get dinner on the table in no time and without too much fuss. With this crockpot beef recipe, it is simple to serve up a dinner that is both tasty and healthy.
When I get ready to host a party, I often stay up all night cooking to create the perfect menu. This particular time I decided to do something a little different and make Crockpot Italian Beef Sandwiches. These sandwiches are the perfect recipe when you need a portable lunch for your family or friends.
Since the ingredients are crucial but the process is quick and easy, the Crockpot Italian Beef Sandwiches are one of the least expensive meals you can cook: The meat and sauce costs only $5.50 for the ingredients – $4 for the meat, $1 for the tomatoes, and $1 for the condiments.

As a young military wife, I was fortunate to meet some wonderful friends straight away! When the kids were little, my friends and I used to have supper together almost every night. We were three military women with seven children between us and deployed husbands… Quite a bit. We became each other’s “people” and shared some of my favorite moments, which I will always treasure! This was a simple meal that we would make in the morning over coffee and have for an early supper later that day. We gave our sandwiches our own spins: one liked finely chopped red onion on top, while the other preferred just a little swipe of mayo on either side of the bread! The meat was eaten on its own by the older children, and everyone was pleased!

We treat Italian Beef like any other sandwich in my house. Chips, fries, and tater tots are all excellent choices. If you don’t want to eat potatoes, our Italian Roasted Cauliflower is a great alternative! We like to serve it with our Italian Marinated Salad. No Italian Beef is complete without a side of giardiniera, of course!
Is it possible to freeze Italian beef?
Yes! This freezes beautifully! When my husband is gone and I prepare this for the kids and myself, we have so much leftover that I freeze it for when he returns! Allow the beef to cool completely before placing it in a freezer-safe bag or container. It will last up to 6 months in the freezer.
Ingredients for our Italian Beef Crockpot
- Your choice of London Broil or Pot Roast
- Banana Pepper Rings (Mild)
- Packet of Zesty Italian Salad Dressing
- Ciabatta Rolls are a kind of bread that is used to make rolls.
- Mozzarella Cheese Slices
How to cook our Italian Beef in the Crockpot:
In the bottom of the crockpot, place the London Broil.
Over the meat, sprinkle the dry Italian Dressing package.
On top, pour the jar of banana peppers. Cook on low for 8 hours in the crockpot. Do not remove the crockpot cover until the 8-hour timer has expired! The temperature will drop if the lid is lifted, and the cook time will be prolonged.
After the beef has completed cooking, shred it with two forks and place it in the crockpot with the cooking fluids.
Half the ciabatta buns and put them open-faced on a baking pan. On the bottom half of the bun, spread shredded beef. To prevent the sandwich from getting too soggy, I prefer to let most of the liquid drain. You can certainly use it as an au jus and pour it over the sandwich if you want!
Place a piece of mozzarella cheese on top of the meat and broil on low in the oven for 2 minutes, or until the cheese begins to bubble.
Place the top half of the ciabatta on top of the bottom half of the ciabatta and enjoy!
It makes me happy when food brings back pleasant memories. Even though we haven’t lived together in almost a decade, I can shut my eyes and see us all together again every time I cook this for supper. - 2 to 3 pound Broiling in London
- Mild Banana Pepper Rings, 12 oz.
- 1 packet Zesty Italian Salad Dressing (Zesty Italian Salad Dressing)
- Ciabatta Rolls (six to eight)
- 6 to 8 slices Cheese Mozzarella
- In the bottom of the crockpot, place the London Broil.
- Over the meat, sprinkle the dry Italian Dressing package.
- On top, pour the jar of banana peppers.
- Cook on low for 8 hours in the crockpot. Do not remove the crockpot cover until the 8-hour timer has expired! The temperature will drop if the lid is lifted, and the cook time will be prolonged.
- After the beef has completed cooking, shred it with two forks and place it in the crockpot with the cooking fluids.
- Half the ciabatta buns and put them open-faced on a baking pan.
- On the bottom half of the bun, spread shredded beef.
- Place a piece of mozzarella cheese on top of the steak and broil over low heat, monitoring closely and removing as soon as the cheese begins to bubble.
- Place the top half of the ciabatta on top of the bottom half of the ciabatta and enjoy!
