My grandmother’s beetroot juice tastes different from how I prepare it since I don’t have to add water when I use a juicer, which makes the beetroot more powerful in my drink.
Despite the fact that I typically prepare my beetroot drink without milk using a juicer, I’m sharing my grandmother’s technique for this dish.
Out of the two, I believe Jamaican beetroot juice with milk is my favorite. My grandma used to leave the beetroot pieces in the juice when I was a kid, and I used to enjoy nibbling on them.
Even though she wouldn’t while preparing carrot and beetroot juice, I recall my grandmother boiling the beetroot before using it to create the drink.
I made the drink with both cooked and uncooked beets, and I prefer the flavor and texture of the raw beetroot.
However, with this dish, I followed my grandmother’s instructions and boiled the beets first.

Recipe for Jamaican beet juice
Make a beetroot drink that isn’t made with milk. Both are delicious, but only you can determine which is better once you’ve had them both.

In the Absence of Milk
- 4 peeled and chopped beetroot
- 2 limes, big
- Peeling a 4 cm piece of ginger is optional.
- sweetening sugar
- seven beets
- 1 teaspoon extract de vanille
- 12 teaspoon nutmeg
- 12 cup condensed milk (or to your preference)
In the Absence of Milk
In a blender, combine the beets, ginger, and enough water to cover the beetroot. Blend until smooth, covered.
Strain into a jar, add the lime juice, and season with sugar to taste.
Allow to cool before serving.
Each beetroot should be washed and peeled before being placed in a saucepan with boiling water. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 to 10 minutes, or until the beetroot is tender.
Remove the pan from the heat and set it aside to cool.
Pour into a blender, along with the vanilla essence and nutmeg, and mix until smooth.
Condense milk may be used to sweeten to taste before adding to the chilies. Serve chilled.
If you don’t want to boil the beets before blending them, you may mix them with unsweetened milk instead of water.
