If you have never heard of Puff Pastry, you are in for a treat! Puff Pastry is an incredibly versatile and versatile pastry commonly used in desserts. It is a light and airyPastry, that is commonly used for savory dishes as well as sweet dishes. What is truly astounding about Puff Pastry is the fact that it is so versatile that it is used to make desserts all around the world!
My trip to France was filled with wonderful things, but the country’s food was definitely my favourite. One thing I loved was the croissants, which is what this tart is inspired by.
This tart has a very light texture and is not too sweet. The pastry is very easy to make and can be served as a snack or dessert. This is one of my favorite things to cook.
While big parties are currently on hold, I find myself cooking my favorite dishes, even if it’s just for my fiancé and me. One of our favorite recipes is for a Mediterranean Puff Pastry Tart.
Crisp puff pastry is baked with artichokes, crumbled feta cheese, lemon, and spices to make a delightful appetizer that can be served in about 30 minutes. You may also like my Pear and Camembert Crostini, French Onion Dip, or Stovetop BBQ Little Smokies recipes!
Puff Pastry Useful Hints
- Puff Pastry is very easy to work with, and when cooked, it turns flaky and tasty. Here are a few pointers to help you make it spectacular!
- Thaw the dough on the counter or in the refrigerator until it is malleable. You can simply lay it out, cut it, and create anything you want after it’s thawed!
- Remove 1 pastry sheet from the box and outer wrapping and wrap in a paper towel to defrost quickly in the microwave. Microwave for 15 seconds on HIGH. Overturn the pastry sheet. 15 seconds more in the microwave If the pastry isn’t readily unfolding, microwave for an additional 5 seconds on each side.
- To achieve a lovely golden hue when cooked, brush the dough with an egg wash.
- Brush the dough with egg wash before sprinkling on your preferred spices. On top, sprinkle with sea salt, sparkling sugar, sesame seeds, or cinnamon sugar.
- Before baking, don’t overheat the dough. This will cause the butter to melt, resulting in a mushy mass rather than flaky layers.
- Use in savory and sweet recipes alike!
Cooking a Tarte Méditerranée
- Place frozen puff pastry sheets on a parchment-lined baking sheet to thaw.
- 12 inch from the border, slice puff pastry with a butter knife.
- Brush the egg wash over the borders.
- On puff pastry, spread feta, artichoke, lemon, and spices.
- Preheat oven to 425°F and bake for 20 minutes, or until sides are golden and crisp.
What kind of puff pastry should I use?
Puff pastry sheets, which can be purchased in the frozen foods department of most major grocery shops, were used for this recipe. Puff pastry may be of any brand, however substitutes like puff pastry cups and phyllo dough should be avoided. Puff pastry should be frozen until it’s time to use it. Puff pastry may be thawed at room temperature by placing it on the counter. m-times

Storage
You may keep leftover Mediterranean Puff Pastry Tart in the fridge for up to 3 days. Place on a baking pan and put in the oven at 400 degrees for 5 minutes to reheat.
You may even reheat in a toaster oven if you want. Place the puff pastry on a small aluminum baking sheet (14 size or the one that comes with your toaster) and bake it until golden brown. Bake for up to 5 minutes, or until well warmed.

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

Puff Pastry should be thawed according to the package directions. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and roll out into a big rectangle. Make a crease in the dough around the border with a butter knife (leaving approximately a 12 inch margin).

Apply an egg wash to the dough.

Combine artichokes, feta cheese, oregano, and salt & pepper to taste in a mixing bowl. Puff pastry dough should be spread out evenly. Add lemon slices on the top.

Bake for 20 minutes, or until the sides are brown and the middle is cooked through. Serve right away and enjoy!
