Puff Pastry Useful Hints

  • Puff Pastry is very easy to work with, and when cooked, it turns flaky and tasty. Here are a few pointers to help you make it spectacular!
  • Thaw the dough on the counter or in the refrigerator until it is malleable. You can simply lay it out, cut it, and create anything you want after it’s thawed!
  • Remove 1 pastry sheet from the box and outer wrapping and wrap in a paper towel to defrost quickly in the microwave. Microwave for 15 seconds on HIGH. Overturn the pastry sheet. 15 seconds more in the microwave If the pastry isn’t readily unfolding, microwave for an additional 5 seconds on each side.
  • To achieve a lovely golden hue when cooked, brush the dough with an egg wash.
  • Brush the dough with egg wash before sprinkling on your preferred spices. On top, sprinkle with sea salt, sparkling sugar, sesame seeds, or cinnamon sugar.
  • Before baking, don’t overheat the dough. This will cause the butter to melt, resulting in a mushy mass rather than flaky layers.
  • Use in savory and sweet recipes alike!
