Beef and Potato Soup

Tender Beef and Potato Soup is a simple yet delectable Cambodian soup. Beef, potatoes, and other ingredients are used to make it. It’s delicious with rice or hot crusty bread.

Ingredients

2 tblsp. extra virgin olive oil    
1 garlic clove, minced    
1 chopped yellow onion    
1 pound (450 gram) chuck or round beef, sliced into bite-size pieces    
1 tblsp. soy sauce    
6 quarts water    
2 big white potatoes, peeled and chopped into bite-size pieces    
1 teaspoon of soy sauce    
sugar (half a spoonful)    
black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon    
a handful of cilantro, chopped    

Beef and Potato Soup Recipe Instructions

  1. Fill a large soup pot halfway with water and bring to a boil. When the pan is heated, add the oil, garlic, onion, meat, and soy sauce, and swirl to combine.
  2. Cook until the meat is cooked, then add the water.
  3. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the potato is cooked.
  4. Fish sauce, sugar, and black pepper are used to season the dish.
  5. Serve with chopped cilantro on top.

Serve immediately with rice or warm toast.
