For as long as I can remember, even before I knew what a mirror was, I have loved looking at myself. I have always thought I looked good, that I was pretty, that I was attractive. I may have been wrong about that, but I knew I was good looking. Unbeknownst to me, I was suffering from what is commonly referred to as an eating disorder. An eating disorder is a mental illness that involves a person engaging in self-harming behaviors related to food and weight. These behaviors could be anything from restricting the amount of food he or she consumes, to refusing to eat at all.
Heather loves her reflection. She is a self-proclaimed narcissist who loves her reflection. She writes about her narcissistic tendencies in her blog, Took a selfie.
Heather is a college student living with her parents. Her parents are supportive and loving, but they have a bad habit of making her feel bad about herself. Heather hates her reflection in the mirror. She spends time each day trying to make her body look better.. Read more about personal program and let us know what you think.
Heather Nelson had done everything to recover her health and be in better shape, including weight reduction surgery. But nothing worked — or worked for a long time.
Then she came upon Coaching. She was 47 pounds lighter, healthier, and more confident after a year than she’d ever imagined possible.
Heather’s Life Changes
I lost 47 pounds and 10% body fat!
- 37 years old
- 47 pound weight loss (from 219 lbs to 172 lbs)

The yo-yo effect is a phenomenon that occurs when a yo-yo
Heather Nelson’s voice has a certain warmth and capability to it. You can tell this lady is educated and down-to-earth from her first few words. She isn’t the kind to get into mischief.
Heather, on the other hand, couldn’t seem to get her act together when it came to her weight and health for years.
That wasn’t always the case. She’d kept in shape as a teen by swimming, bicycling, and jogging. And, although she acquired the traditional “freshman 15” in college, she also managed to remove it by working out.
Heather, on the other hand, seemed to lose her discipline after graduation. She explains, “I simply didn’t have the internal desire to keep going.”
Or maybe she was preoccupied with something else. She traveled a lot as a consultant, worked long hours, ate at odd hours, and ate out. She was often anxious because of her hectic schedule.
The outcome was expected. Her weight swelled up and then deflated. She’d put on ten pounds. Lose 12 pounds. Increase by a factor of 25. Down by 15 points.
It’s known as the “good ol’” (or “bad ol’”) yo-yo effect.
Heather, like many others in her situation, attempted a variety of weight-loss methods.
She mostly limited her diet, dabbling with meal replacements and vegetarianism for a while. Anything to prevent her from overeating.
And she became very adept at controlling herself. She even lost 42 pounds before starting graduate school at the age of 25.
The problem was that she couldn’t maintain her consistency.
Even with significant effort — visiting a trainer, trying to eat healthily more deliberately — it was difficult to lose those additional pounds after she turned 30. However, no matter what she tried, the weight continued to rise. And onwards.
In a mirror, it was difficult for her to identify herself. She could barely stand to look in the mirror at times.
Heather was disheartened and dissatisfied with her weight reduction efforts by August of 2010. Her condition was deteriorating. Her blood pressure had risen from a healthy 125/74 to a dangerous 154/108, and her waist circumference had grown by more than 10 inches.
She had been diagnosed with pre-diabetes.
It was a terrible situation.
That’s when she decided to go under the knife for weight reduction surgery.
By removing part of the stomach, rerouting the intestines to a tiny pouch, or implanting a gastric band, bariatric surgery decreases the size of the stomach.
The National Institutes of Health recommends it for individuals with a BMI of over 40, and it may be particularly beneficial for those with co-existing medical problems like diabetes. However, since it entails dangers, like any surgical treatment, reputable physicians will not suggest it carelessly.
To put it another way, to be a candidate for weight reduction surgery, you must demonstrate that you have tried — and failed — alternative weight loss methods.
You must also agree to engage in a medical weight reduction program following surgery.
Heather had no objections to going through with it. She read all of the suggested papers, determined to succeed at long last. She was well aware that portion control would be crucial.
She recalls thinking, “If I can just eat meals the size of a deck of playing cards, I’ll be OK.” “I’ll be able to lose then.”
However, a year later, she was still not at her desired weight. She hadn’t made any progress at all, in fact.
Most individuals would be inclined to quit up at that moment.
Heather, on the other hand, is composed of tougher material.
One of her coaches had recommended that she look into a business named a few years ago. She’d purchased a copy of the PN System after being impressed by the suggestion.
“The thing is, the book simply lay there on the shelf in its plastic wrapping for almost a year,” she confesses now, laughing.
Does this ring a bell? It ought to. Heather isn’t the only one who has fallen into this trap. It may be daunting to start a program on our own.
But by June 2011, Heather had changed her mind about the shrink-wrapped box. Something inside of her had changed. After all, she’d exhausted all other possibilities.
She reasoned, “I’ve done everything else.” “Why not this?” says the author.
Given her previous bad experiences, she was understandably suspicious. Despite this, she felt compelled to open the book. She had a feeling it was worth a shot. She had a cursory look at the PN boards. She even experimented with a few recipes.
Finally, she joined up for the Coaching presale list, kicking off the transformation process she had been wanting to start for a long time.
Heather was impressed by the program’s controlled and manageable pace when she first started Coaching.
It was not hurried in any way.
“At first, everything was new, fascinating, and a little scary,” she adds. “However, the one-day-at-a-time method appealed to me.”
She began to shed pounds almost quickly. She lost 6 pounds in the first few weeks.
She adds, “You have to understand.” “Coming from where I’d been, any loss was huge. As a result, I was ecstatic.”
At the same time, she continued to hold off on making a decision. She promised herself, “Once I drop 25 or 30 pounds.” “Then I’ll believe it.”
In the meanwhile, it was a case of wait and see.
Wait and see… and put in the effort.
The trip was not a straight line, which was Heather’s greatest surprise.
As with any personal journey, progress in Coaching isn’t linear. You don’t just keep progressing at a measured and predictable pace. It’s more like a crazy, twisted line of progress, regress, progress, and lessons learned along the way.
“I mean, academically, I get it,” she adds. “Of course I did,” says the speaker. However, on an emotional level…”
Her feelings, on the other hand, were a whole other story. Especially when confronted with the issue of whether or not you were really complying with today’s health and fitness activities.
No other weight-loss program forced Heather to be so forthright. No previous weight-loss program had faced her with her own decisions on such a frequent basis.
She adds, “What I learnt was that I had to accept responsibility for my own choices.” “I needed to be honest with myself. I learnt to distinguish between thinking, “I have to do x,” “I chose to do x,” and “I’m doing x.”
“I may have been focused on doing the one ‘right thing’ in the past,” she says. Making certain to consume this magical meal or do that magical workout. Or ensuring that you don’t eat this or that “poor” meal.
“However, I learnt in Coaching that there is no such thing as a singular ‘right thing’ or ‘wrong thing.’ Shoulds aren’t allowed.”
Rather, there are options. You have three minutes, three hours, or three days to make decisions that will impact your weight and health.
“And once you’ve made a decision, you have to live with the consequences.”
Her development was aided by two options.
She began by changing occupations. Her new job was in the same field as her previous one, but it didn’t need as much travel. She was still on the road, but her itinerary was more set. Everything from sleep to diet was improved as a result of this. She just had more energy to devote to her objectives.
She also received additional support in the shape of a relationship with Demetrius, whom she later married.
“He’s a marathon runner,” says the narrator. So he really pushed me and encouraged me.” Demetrius gently recommended Heather work out on days when she was considering skipping the gym.
However, although external supports such as her new work and new relationship were essential to Heather, she needed to address her inner saboteurs in order to lose weight and keep it off.
This curriculum is unique in that it requires you to work on the inside.
One of the most difficult times for Heather occurred approximately halfway through the program.
What happened at that point?
She adds, “As women, we have a tendency to take on the world.” We’re constantly watching out for each other, making sure that their requirements are fulfilled.
Meanwhile, we often overlook or disregard our own requirements.
That’s what gets us into problems in the long term.
The Christmas season arrived around halfway through the show. The shops were brimming with goods. Baking was going on. The air was filled with the delicious scents of chocolate, cinnamon, and cloves. Demetrius, meantime, was loading up on some of his favorite snacks.
Heather, on the other hand, has discovered that some meals were dangerous to her. She would eat these meals if they were available in the home. She’d be farther from her objectives if she ate them. And she wouldn’t be pleased with herself.
She realized she had to tell Demetrius that he couldn’t bring these foods into the home anymore. That request, however, was not simple to make. As women, even the tiniest requests may seem like demands, and we’ve been taught not to make demands. So it takes a lot of courage and humility to seek for assistance like way.
The reward was well worth the effort.

Heather stepped in front of a mirror one day and loved what she saw.
She suddenly realized, as she neared the conclusion of the program, that she was proud of her achievements.
“I regained my self-assurance,” she says. “I could grin at myself in the mirror.”
As she recalls, her voice breaks with emotion. “It had been a long time since I had been able to do that.”
Not only that, but Heather married in September 2012, wearing a couture Valentino gown.
“Me, in Valentino!” she exclaims, awestruck. Heather’s surprise is somewhat warranted, given that fashion designers aren’t renowned for catering to women who are bigger than average in size.
Heather – the lady who had previously qualified for weight reduction surgery — was no longer larger-than-average by the time she got married.
Between her initial fitting and the day she walked down the aisle, she had shed fifteen pounds and had dropped two full dress sizes. To make the gown fit, the seamstress continued squeezing the fabric around the sides.
On her wedding day, many told her, “You look very joyful.”
She seemed to be pleased because she was pleased.
“When individuals acquire weight or can’t lose weight, there’s no mystery,” Heather says today. “It all boils down to your choices, your surroundings, and your habits.”
People need assistance in “unraveling the thread that has been wrapped up in the brain for such a long time.”
Coaching was a source of support for Heather.
Moving ahead, she is grateful for the opportunity to share her knowledge with others.
She says, “You can do it.” “You have the ability to untangle that thread. There’s a lot of space for improvement.”
