Keto Beef Stroganoff

Keto Beef Stroganoff is another easy Keto recipe that’s low in carbs, high in calories and tasted incredibly delicious. It’s also a good idea to stick with basic ingredients because if you do not, then you’ll end up with a dish that doesn’t taste nearly as good.

You should be well aware by now that I’m a huge fan of cooking. I mostly cook in my own kitchen and I love it. I often find myself coming up with new keto recipes with amazing results.  Recently I cooked Keto Beef Stroganoff to share with my readers.  If you’re already a fan of keto then you’ll know that the meal is a no-nonsense keto meal that’s incredibly easy to pack and cook.

Beef stroganoff is a classic dish that can be made with a variety of meats. However, if you are on a ketogenic diet, then you don’t need to use beef, as lamb and game meat will work just as well. This dish is a great way to get your protein in while reducing your carb intake and you will be glad you did!

Stroganoff didn’t appear on my plate much as a child growing up in an Indian home, but I confess I wish it had! This low-carb beef stroganoff is creamy, tender, and filling. It’s easy to make and serve on its own or over cauliflower rice for a fast and tasty supper!

Keto Dinners Made Simple

Now that I’m a working mom, I completely realize how exhausting working and parenting can be. We find ourselves searching for a fast, healthy dinner to prepare throughout the week on more evenings than we’d like to admit.

If you can relate (and we know you can), I’m here to inform you that the dishes on our food blog can help you check both boxes: fast and healthy. Here are a few of our go-tos:

  1. Salad Casserole with Tacos
  2. Pork Chops in the Air Fryer (our 1 year old son loves these)
  3. Keto Chicken Nuggets (ideal for meal preparation!)
  4. Roasted Red Pepper Chicken Thighs (a fan favorite!)

What Types Of Ground Beef Are Keto?

When it comes to ground beef, you’re in luck since it’ll work on a keto diet regardless of the proportion (90, 85, 80, or 75 percent). People like greater fat percentages, which is why we usually utilize and suggest 80/20 since it is more satisfying and nutrition rich!

When preparing ground beef with a lot of fat, keep in mind that it will drain out when you fry it in a pan or create meatloaf. Make sure to include it in your dinner or use it up by cooking eggs or vegetables, as we often do.

Is Sour Cream Keto-Friendly?

I’d shout it from the crest of my roof if I could. I consume sour cream nearly every day since it’s 100% keto! It’s a tasty way to add fat to a high-protein meal, and it’s perfect for casseroles and skillet recipes like this keto beef stroganoff.

Tip: Many people find it difficult to consume liver, which is high in nutrients and good for you; but, if you top your cooked liver with a dollop of sour cream, I guarantee you’ll like it!

The Best Noodle Substitutes!

Stroganoff is usually eaten with egg noodles, but if you’re on a low carb or keto diet, this isn’t an option. So, what are some other filling options? To be honest, nothing truly compares to pasta but pasta, although there are a few good alternatives.

  1. Zucchini Noodles: As a pasta substitute, blanch or steam them and serve the stroganoff directly on top.
  2. Cauliflower Rice is more satisfying than zucchini rice and may be put straight in with the meat and sauce to finish the meal!
  3. As a pasta substitute, Miracle Noodles are composed of konjac fiber and are virtually calorie-free.

Time to prepare: 20 minutes

Instructions:

  • In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat.

  • Season the sliced steak with salt and pepper and sear it for 1 minute on both sides in a hot pan until browned. If your pan isn’t large enough to accommodate all of the meat in an equal layer, sear it in stages.

  • Place the seared steak in a mixing dish and put it aside.

  • Reduce to medium-low heat and add the butter. Add the sliced onion once the butter has melted, and sauté for 1 minute before adding the cut mushrooms. Add a sprinkle of salt and cook, stirring periodically, for 8-10 minutes, or until the mushrooms have lost all of their moisture and the onions are soft and golden.

  • Scrape up any browned pieces from the bottom of the pan and add beef broth.

  • In a separate small dish, combine a few tablespoons of hot broth with sour cream after the soup has thickened somewhat. Stir the mixture into the broth and veggies to combine.

  • As needed, season with salt and pepper. Allow the stock to thicken while continuing to boil, then return the steak to the pan and cook until warmed and thoroughly cooked through, approximately 4-5 minutes.

  • Garnish with chopped parsley and freshly cracked black pepper, if preferred, and serve over blanched zoodles or steamed cauliflower rice.

  • Serve right away and enjoy!

  • It’s best to keep it in the fridge for up to 5 days in an airtight container.
