Keto Orange Chicken – Low Carb Orange Marmalade Chicken
One of the more common misconceptions surrounding the ketogenic diet is that it can’t be used to lose weight. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Although most people lean towards the carb-heavy side of the spectrum, there are plenty of ways to make ketogenic eating a welcome change in your daily routine. The best part is the same goes for any other diet: you can’t lose weight at all with poor food choices.
Keto orange chicken is a healthy and delicious dish that everyone will enjoy. Plus, it’s simple to make and can be prepared in under 15 minutes. I like to use a chicken breast to pound the meat and make sure that everything cooks evenly and then I cut the cooked chicken into chunks. The orange marmalade gives the chicken a nice flavor and the chicken is served with a homemade low carb orange marmalade.
Yes, I know it sounds weird, but I’ve been experimenting with a ketogenic diet (a diet low in carbs, high in fat, and moderate in protein) for the last few weeks and I’ve lost over 10 pounds! I’m not trying to lose weight so much as I am trying to get rid of some of the weight I’ve gained over the years. At least that’s the goal.. Keto Orange Chicken — This delicious low-carb orange chicken dish tastes exactly like traditional Chinese takeout, but it’s keto-friendly and perfect for hectic weeknights.
The chicken was soft and juicy, and the sauce was incredible. This isn’t the same as the simple orange chicken dish we published previously; we’re making it lower in carbohydrates, so you’ll have to put in a little more effort.
In North America, Orange Chicken is a popular Chinese restaurant and takeaway meal. Crispy chicken nuggets are covered in a tasty sauce that is sweet and sour.
Ingredient Substitutes & Frequently Asked Questions
Is it possible to replace the whey protein isolate with almond or coconut flour?
I strongly advise you to use whey protein because, first and foremost, I am certain you have never fried chicken with whey protein.
Second, whey protein effectively binds all of the breading components together better than any other flour, and it won’t lose any of the batter throughout the frying process.
However, you may bread the egg-dipped chicken with almond or coconut flour, or a mixture of peanut flour and sesame flour (take 2 tablespoons each)
Amino acids in liquid form — This has a Soy Sauce taste and may be used instead of Soy Sauce. Coconut aminos may be substituted.
Dressing Substitute – To thicken the sauce, use orange juice or extract with xanthum gum.
What Is Keto Orange Chicken Sauce and How Do I Make It?
To create the sauce, just follow the directions on the recipe card below, however here are the substitutes if you don’t have any of the ingredients on hand or are unable to get them.

What is the best way to bread chicken for a Keto Orange Chicken Recipe?
We used whey protein to bread the chicken pieces with the eggs, but you could also use coconut flour. To create a low carb orange marmalade chicken, we used liquid aminos and other dressings, but you can also use orange zest, orange essence, chicken broth, and erythritol for sweetening.
What Are You Going to Do With the Leftovers?
If you have leftovers, refrigerate the chicken and sauce separately in airtight containers for up to 3 days (if you combine them, the breading will soak up the sauce).
When you’re ready to dine, reheat the sauce (not cook it) and toss the chicken into it.
What to serve with this Orange Chicken Low Carb?
Serve over keto cauliflower rice or asian vegetables like steamed broccoli, red bell peppers, green beans, and mushrooms.
