Reversing type 2 diabetes starts with ignoring the guidelines

If an American can bypass the dietary guidelines and lose weight, surely a type 2 diabetic can ignore the guidelines and reverse his or her disease. Unfortunately, the opposite is true. People with type 2 diabetes are advised to eat healthy food and exercise for good health. Yet, it turns out that the best way to avoid type 2 diabetes is to ignore the guidelines and eat all the high fat, high carb foods you want .

I don’t know how many of you are familiar with type 2 diabetes, but if you are then you know just how frustrating it is. And who has the answer? Governments and medical institutions of course. Well, they are not the ones who know best. This unfortunately makes it hard for people to find a solution.

Americans have a bad habit of assuming that every American diet is the proper diet for everyone. The truth is that everyone has different needs, and you only want the diet that works for you. Here are a few key differences between a healthy and a diet that is making you sick. 1) The Diet = Eating fewer carbs and more protein and fat. If you’re overweight or obese, or know a friend/loved one who is, chances are you’ve heard about the American Diabetes Association’s (ADA) current recommendations for weight management and exercise. But the ADA is known for more than just its recommendations: it’s also an advocacy group with an agenda to promote weight loss in people with diabetes.  This is a shame, because a healthy weight loss program that mainly emphasizes dieting and exercise to control blood glucose is the worst possible approach for long-term health and weight loss. In addition to focus on diet and exercise, the quality of any weight loss program is determined by how well it supports healthy eating, physical activity, and long-term weight maintenance. I believe Hallberg’s findings are incorrect. For individuals who cannot perceive the error, inaccurate conclusions are a kind of intellectual abuse because they may accept counsel based on flawed reasoning. Hallberg is correct in his assessment: Insulin’s job is to transfer glucose (blood sugar) to the cells where it may be utilized… (at 1.33) 2….it is difficult to move sugar in the blood to where it needs to go – the cells – if someone has insulin resistance…. (at 1.36) 3….When a person is insulin resistant, the body reacts by generating more insulin, which causes the insulin level to rise (at 1.55) 4….Normally, however, it (insulin) can’t sustain this level permanently, and even at these higher levels, insulin isn’t enough to keep blood glucose levels within the normal range, so it (blood glucose) starts to increase – this is diabetes (at 2.19).

Hallberg concluded from these recommendations that the cure to diabetes is to reduce the quantity of sugar in the diet, and he recommended a low-carbohydrate diet as a result. The problem is that Hallberg ignores cause 2, which is why insulin has such a difficult time getting sugar into cells in the first place. Saturated fats inhibit the cellular gates that allow sugar to enter the cell (i.e. fats found primarily in dairy products, eggs and meat). Your insulin and blood sugar levels return to normal when you remove saturated fats from your diet. This is why individuals who eat a low-fat, plant-based diet are less likely to acquire type 2 diabetes.

Second, moving from a frying pan to a fire by lowering insulin and blood sugar levels on a low-carb diet while significantly raising the risk of vein damage and cancer on a high-fat diet.

The negation of the modus tollens is the technical term for this faulty logic for those who are interested.

Every year, the American Diabetes Association (ADA) publishes new recommendations for everyone looking to lose weight, or at least follow a healthy diet.
