Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies are soft and chewy, with a cherry taste, maraschino cherry pieces, and chocolate chips! Traditional chocolate chip cookies get a fun and delicious makeover!

I’ve always like anything cherry, and chocolate isn’t bad too, so I’ve always enjoyed the two together. The maraschino cherries in these cookies are to die for, and the cherry essence in the dough provides just the proper amount of cherry flavor to balance off the chocolate chips.

Amazing Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipes

  • Make sure the dough is well floured. You may need to add a little flour if the dough is too sticky. (This is particularly true in this case since you’re using fruit.) There shouldn’t be too much additional moisture if the cherries are well-drained and blotted with a paper towel, but if your first batch of cookies is spreading more than you like, just add a few more tablespoons of flour to the dough before baking the remainder.)
  • Do not let the butter to melt! The butter must be softened (at room temperature), but not melted, otherwise the cookies will be ruined.
  • When combining the butter and sugars, take your time. The consistency of your cookies will be improved by creaming them together for 2-3 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. This will ensure that your cookies are perfect every time!
  • Make use of a cookie scoop! A cookie scoop is the way to go if you want all of your cookies to be precisely formed and the same size.
  • Use parchment paper or a silicone baking surface to prevent sticking. This will make removing the cookies from the cookie sheet a breeze, as you won’t have to scrape them off the pan – they’ll simply glide right off in great form!
  • Don’t overbake the cookies – mine appear slightly underbaked when I take them out of the oven, but that’s OK since they’ll continue to bake on the cookie sheet for a few more minutes.

P is my reader and is my second oldest child. Reading is my favorite pastime, and I hoped that at least one of my children would like it as much as I do. P is the one that ALWAYS has a book in her hand, despite the fact that all four of my children are excellent readers. She tries to smuggle it under her thigh at dinner, she always needs to carry a book with her in the vehicle, even if it’s just a 3-minute trip, and she’s always looking for lengthy series with big volumes to read. It’s fantastic!

These fresh cherry cookies are the perfect treat for any time of day. They’re not too sweet, but they have a nice crunch and a beautiful aroma.
