Regarding the Chicken
- Chicken, 2 pound (907 g)
- 1 cup tomato sauce or salsa (245 g)
- 2 tblsp. soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce (30 ml)
- 1 tsp chili powder (15 ml)
- 1 teaspoon (5 mL) cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder (5 mL)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (5 mL)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (2.5 ml), or to taste
- To taste, freshly cracked black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon chipotle powder (2.5 mL) (optional, for spicy flavor)
- lettuce, chopped, 6 cups (1.5 l)
- avocado slices
- slices of lime
- sauce with a kick
- radishes, sliced
- red onion, diced
- soured milk
In a slow cooker, combine all of the chicken ingredients (chicken, tomato sauce, Worcestershire, chili powder, cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, salt & pepper, and optional chipotle powder). Toss in all of the spices to fully include them into the sauce.
Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4-5 hours.
Remove the chicken parts from the slow cooker and chop them into 1-2 inch pieces before returning them to the slow cooker. Break up the chicken with a couple of forks.
Taste the chicken and season it with additional salt if necessary.
Top the lettuce with the shredded chicken and your favorite toppings when ready to serve.
